Instructions

  1. Prep Peel and slice the onion. Chop the green onion, keeping the whites and greens separate.
  2. Prep Measure the beef broth into a small bowl or cup.
  3. Sauce Stir the beef broth, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Splenda together in a small bowl until the sweetener dissolves.
  4. Cook Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat with a spray of oil. Add the green onion whites and let them bloom for a few seconds.
  5. Cook Add the ground beef and brown it, breaking it apart with your spatula. Leave it in the pan — no need to remove it.
  6. Cook Add the sliced onion. Stir-fry with the beef until the onion starts to soften.
  7. Cook Pour in the sauce mixture and toss until it glazes the beef and onion. Tip: Keep the heat high so the sauce reduces into a glaze rather than pooling.
  8. Finish Microwave the rice until hot, then fold it into the wok. Toss everything together until glossy and combined.
  9. Finish Top with the green onion tops and serve right away.

Verified TunedCook app builds

The TunedCook app's own named-target solver has computed and verified two builds for this exact bowl, each hitting a protein target at essentially the same ~700 kcal — this is the real "tune it" feature the video is teasing, not a projection.

40 g Protein Build ✓ App-verified

Protein40.00 g
Calories699.97 kcal
  • ground beef, 90/10 (swapped from 96/4)125.9 g
  • cooked brown rice (swapped from white)316.6 g
  • onion148.8 g
  • green onion67.7 g
  • beef broth57.5 g
  • light soy sauce20.7 g
  • dark soy sauce15.5 g
  • Splenda (sucralose sweetener)0.6 g
  • cooking spray0.1 g

At this lighter protein target, the solver swaps in fattier 90/10 ground beef (instead of 96/4) and brown rice (instead of white) to hit the calorie target without over-diluting the bowl.

60 g Protein Build ✓ App-verified

Protein60.00 g
Calories699.99 kcal
  • ground beef, 96/4 (no swap)228.2 g
  • cooked white rice (no swap)203.3 g

Frequently asked questions

How much protein is in this beef rice bowl?+
The TunedCook app has verified two exact builds for this bowl: 40 g of protein and 60 g of protein, both landing around 700 kcal — see the full ingredient breakdown for each in "Verified TunedCook app builds" below.
How many calories are in this recipe?+
About 700 kcal per serving. The kitchen version above is the creator's own estimate; the two verified builds below are solver-computed to within 0.03 kcal of 700.
Where does this recipe come from?+
This is a TunedCook kitchen recipe — cooked, filmed, and shared directly by the TunedCook team, not adapted from an outside source.
Can I get the exact 40g and 60g ingredient amounts?+
Yes — the full gram-for-gram breakdown for both the 40 g and 60 g protein builds is below, computed by the TunedCook app's own protein-target solver. Join the waitlist to get this same tuning for any recipe in the app.
Why does the 40g build use different ground beef and rice than the 60g build?+
To reach the lighter 40 g protein target at the same ~700 kcal, the app's solver swaps in fattier 90/10 ground beef (instead of 96/4) and brown rice (instead of white) — both add calories without adding much extra protein, which is exactly what hitting a lower protein target at a fixed calorie count requires. The 60 g build needs no swaps because the base recipe's own protein-to-calorie ratio already sits close to that target.
